Each day at Fort Concho visitors can experience the Winter Rendezvous, campsites with hundreds of re-enactors and period traders who bring the 1800s to life. During daylight hours the many troops on the Parade Ground will drill, ride, and shoot their weapons. The artillery demonstrations (blanks-of course) will definitely catch your attention! Inside the fort’s many original buildings, merchants and artisans from across Texas and the Southwest offer items to start your Christmas shopping. A Food Court will offer various food options, strolling musicians, and staged musical activity will keep the grounds lively, and the Children’s Areas will provide many crafts and activities free for all youngsters.

December 9, 11, & 16 - Miracle on Oakes St.

They say everything is bigger in Texas. Another more seasonally appropriate phrase states; everything Christmas is bigger in San Angelo. Nothing in Texas shines brighter than this city in December. The exhibit, Christmas at The Coop, has become a holiday tradition for many people in the Concho Valley. The free Christmas exhibit allows families to have fun, learn and engage in holiday cheer for no cost. Art activities, movies, free pictures with Santa Claus and tons of fun things to look at are part of SAMFA’s idea to thank the community and say a loud Merry Christmas!

This year we are extending the Christmas cheer to the rest of the galleries on Oakes street and naming this new holiday tradition Miracle on Oakes Street. Not only will Christmas at the Coop be open, but so will Studio Rio, Gallery Verde, and The Gas Station. SAMFA staff will have the artwork for sale at the Gas Station live music, artist demos, NEW FREE activities with Concho Clay Studio including glazing a cookie plate for Santa during Family Day on December 11 or making an ornament during December 16's Downtown Strong.
